Default transfer from 1and1

Hi. I want to transfer my hosting from 1and1 but want to keep 1and1 as my domain registrar since they are only $8 with free private registration. For 4 domains that's only $32 a year instead of $100.

The dns settings at 1and1 has this message:

Quote:
Full functionality cannot be guaranteed if you choose DNS settings other than the original 1&1 settings, such as e-mail and web space. Click on Reset to return to the 1&1 default settings.
Am I going to have problems with email for the domains if I do this? If I use the HG IP for the domain A Record and MX Record at 1and1, will I use HG for email? I don't know how this works.

I'm trying to save the $68 a year but don't want problems either. Does HG still use Enom? I've read bad reviews about Enom. But then again, I've read bad reviews about 1and1 too, lol, even though I haven't had problems with their service.

Thanks.

You can use any domain registrar you wish. All you need do is set your nameservers to the 2 that are supplied by HG in the welcome email once you have signed up.

Yes, the hosting is not a problem. It's the message about email I'm concerned about. If I do it this way, will I use 1and1 email server or HG email server? I don't know how this works. Thanks.

If you change the nameservers at the registrar to the HG nameservers then you can use the hosting and email on your HG account.

Ok, so I signed up for an account but still can't see all the forum boards as a user. What do I need to do? I have some questions. Thanks.

It usually gets taken care of quite soon, but see the sticky http://forums.hostgator.com/if-you-n...um-t20966.html
