I've been at hostgator for about 1 year and a half (I think).
The server I'm on had some issues in the beginning, that made me doubt if I had made the correct decision to go with HG. But then, this is something that can happen with ANY shared hosting system, and the issues (apparently someone running a script going haywire) were quickly resolved and I haven't had any problems after that. !!!I also have a quite expensive account (allmost twice as expensive for 1/10th of bandwidth/hd space and I can only run 1 domain!) with another host, and the uptime on HG is better (I've been constantly monitorring by checking uptime and mysql uptime every 5 mins). (hadn't transferred it to HG because it has a dedicated ip (for https), and is doing so well in google (for years) that I'm afraid to do something drastic like move to another host/ip. Why am I leaving HG ? Wel, the host I'm going to has: -ruby on rails support -svn/subversion (I was looking for online subversion hosting, but this tends to be more expensive than a hosting account with svn support) -shell access (I'm a linux sysadmin for a living, this is handy for me) Not sure how ruby on rails will do in shared hosting, if it doesn't work out I'll go looking for a vps or small dedicated server. THANKS HOSTGATOR! |
