Default Third party or customised Control Panels?

Hello everyone,

We know about various CP’s in the market like plesk, helm, cPanel etc.

Just wondering what is your opinion, a third party or a customized control panel designed by the hosting company itself?

What do you think

If you sign up in HostGator you get cPanel. Only in a dedicated server you could get something else, and that'd cost you extra money.

When I'm looking for hosting, I'm looking for cPanel hosting, nothing else. I'm familiar with cPanel and it's easy to use. I think that most people are going to be the same.

I really don't like control panel design by some hosting company. I just lost myself in those cp's and they are never design properly. Main link doesn't really mean anything and you just click everywhere to find something it would take 2 sec. in cPanel.

Like Aplus and 1and1 have their own control panel and I tried the 2 in shared accounts and I really didn't like it. I never know where to click in those panels because everything is mix up in the same panel, billing, update, invoice, tools, affiliate and all stuff related to your website.

My choice of control panel are, and I stick with:
1- cPanel
2- Plesk reloaded 7.5 (in worse case that cPanel is not available)

Best regards,

I like the idea that with cPanel, no matter where I go, there I am.

Thumbs up Re: Third party or customised Control Panels?

Yeah, cPanel rules.

I have had to use Helm, Plesk and some other forgetable bit of rubbish.

cPanel is really in your face, like sera says, no matter where you go, there you are.

Hey, that'd be cool on a Tshirt, eh?

Hi,
If you are not able to solve a customer problem then you are as good as
gone.
On the other hand a hosting company that makes its own CP shows that
they have analysed the market and have accordingly made a CP that will
suit the customers the best and will be able to answer any CP related
questions a customer asks as they have designed the CP themselves.

There are thousands and thousands of people that know cPanel very well and can help with problems.
If a company makes their own CP there are only few that know it very well, most likely even the support staff of that company don't know it so well. It's much easier to find support personnel that already know a lot about cPanel, than teach them something completely new.

on the other hand if a hosting company has CPanel that makes life more easy of the customer wants to go away. They can go to another cpanel hosting and everything will be similar. So having their own control panel can somehow keep custumers ;-) because there is less competition
