Reseller packages are nice.
As far a knowledge to run a reseller plan there are a few ways to do it from your perspective.

HostGator Support: with any plan including dedicated, HostGator will be there for you 24/7 to answer any questions you have and even check of fix things for you.
If you wanted to try being a reseller you could direct any technical support issues your clients have to either the ticket system or here on the peer support forum. You will generally get a faster and more accurate response here for general questions. Also as a reseller they have hosting templates that come with an affiliate integration for your client to purchase.
Enom domain account, billing manager, all for free to resellers.

You can have HG to do most everything for you until you get more experienced with reseller hosting.
I would suggest visiting this forum and reading everything in the reseller hosting forums. There is alot of useful info to learn from.

I have been here at HG for going on 3 years and have shared, reseller, and dedicated hosting plans.
Everything i learned i learned right here from the staff and members.
Now i own one of the most popular hosting businesses on the net.

Checkout the new site that i intergraded with 3 different templates and scripts. Still got some bugs but i am very pleased.

wow very quick response, ty! that was actually my biggest fear running across something I couldnt resolve and being stuck. 2 more questions, can I set up sites for my customers before they pay and then they will have access once they do? last but not least I saw a credit card option but can they pay me with paypal also?and will that be an automatic pay option or do i have to add that in myself?

Yes. With both billing managers that you will get to choose from you can set it to setup the package instantly before they pay. Or you can setup something like 1month free trial before they are billed.
If your just trying to setup sites and packages to show off before someone signs up with you, you will have to add the package manually in your Web Host Manager and then once they decide to sign up with you you would have to add there client account info into the billing manager so they can be tracked.

Yes you can use paypal, credit cards, mail-in payments, e-checks, e-gold, etc.
Credit Cards can be done automatically with your billing manager through one of many gateways, or you can do it manually, but you will have to keep track of when and what to charge.
