You would probably get a quicker support reply by opening a trouble ticket.

what is the deal? I am starting to feel naked in this chair. Thinking about "data loss". Backups are nice, and I do have one in a worse case senerio. The weird think is (not complaining, just making conversation) is a cron job running. Every 3 minutes I get an email from cron.php (drupal!, you guessed it). Wonder if they are doing upgrades or if hardware went wrong. Hopefully everything is ok and all other other customers on this server have a backup present.

It is to be known that many have lost their site from not backing up their data. It has happend to me plenty of times, so prepare yourself for the worst. It's not a bad thing.

warm regards,

Any idea how I can find out what server I'm hosted on?

My site was running slow and even crashed at one point but I'm not sure if that was related.

I posted a ticket and they replied withn a minute advising me that they were doing a first time backup for that server.

I can't believe how quick they got back to me! It almost felt automated

In command prompt you type:
nslookup www.YourSiteHere.com

you get an IP address, like 70.87.126.226

then you type:
nslookup 70.87.126.226

and you get something like maserati.websitewelcome.com

Awesome, thanks for that: I think I'm on 'static' then.

Isn't www.theplanet.com another hosting company?

No, in your case it doesn't show the server name... I suppose you have a dedicated IP?

What is happening to this server. With in three days now. two outtages have happend. The server usually reboots for a couple of seconds at 1:10am or so. With little or no downtime. Either they are doing upgrades or this server is about to retire. Either way, I would suggest users on this server do a Full backup ASAP. It can save many headaches later on your journey through a website.

Don't know if the server keeps on breaking, or if they are doing upgrades. I have read somewhere we could be expecting problems via, the servers moving to a new location. If someone could fill us in on this information so we can all understand, that would be great.

if you do this with a regular ip, it points to the server as opposed to a dedicated one.
