i remember the days that i was paying something like 150 yearly, just to have a 20mb mail and a site with 100mb space ages ago.
as the time passes things become a lot cheaper, Nowadays lots of companies offer free php & mysql hosting, the need for owning a site is also decreasing.. since you can share your photos via flickr or have a cv for business at linked.in or just to host your videos on youtube etc etc.. many hosting companies offer shared hosting.. and all of their sites about big fonts consists of "unlimited" motto, when you order a service you feel like you order a big king xxl menu, i am not going to argue with that, since its a matter of marketting case. a few months ago i put the video of my aunts cat to youtube, in 3 months 29000 ppl watched it. i dont know how they find it, i dont know what makes them to watch a simple cat for 8 minutes. she dont talk, she dont even do tricks in video. likewise the traffic on mysites getting higher day by day.. add to any, share everywhere, fallow me, become fan bla bla.. people come, people go.. at the other side, here is a full service that has abilities to do as much as you can, if you try to go with these free limits in a shared host, most probably your account may be suspended before you reached 1/4 of the limit http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/quotas.html and if you decide to enable billing and pay something like 5 dolar (that you pay currently for a shared hosting) imagine what kind of resources you will have ![]() my question is will there be innovation for shared hostings in near future? could be increase on resources, or maybe php specific technologies like eaccelerator, memcached, or maybe mod deflate and so on.. or should i double the study times for learning python :-)) thanks |
