I've never worked with a host that is so willing to go above and beyond to help the customer. I had an issue in which my site was operating slowly. I made as many modifications as I could to speed up the loading of images, reduce the number of HTTP requests, and find ways to optimize my website. Nothing seemed to work.

I have a Moodle and Joomla site that are linked together through an authentication plugin. For several months, even years, there were no problems and the site loaded extremely fast. I didn't have a single complaint in my first two years. However, over the past few months, the site had been taking longer and longer to load. It got to the point where it took between 10 - 30 seconds to login to Moodle. This was completely unacceptable for my students.

I posted in the forums here and very quickly I received a reply from GatorJoshL to PM him about the issue. I sent him a message, but at this point I was pretty certain my only option was to move to a new host. He went well beyond what is reasonable to help me out and answered all of my questions extremely quickly, often within 5 minutes through the message system!

My site was moved to a newer server within an hour, tech support helped me with a special problem specific to my installation and the transition from Joomla to Moodle is now less than 5 seconds. This is equivalent to the performance that I received with a dedicated server elsewhere. Anyone that has tried to login to a banking site knows that secure logins take a few extra seconds, add to that an integration between two platforms and you are asking for even more issues.

In the end, I am thrilled to still be with Hostgator. Whatever you might hear, they care about their customers, and with over 5,000,000 domains they still want to keep your business. They will do anything in their power to do that, including moving your site to a new server for free, helping you with issues that are too advanced for you, and providing extremely fast support.

If you ever feel that you are not receiving the response time that you need, then a simple PM to one of the active board representatives will probably be all you need to fix your issue. As amazing as the tech support is, I've found that sometimes LiveChat just doesn't get it right. In those instances, it is nice to know there are other options available. In the rare event that the ticket system doesn't resolve your request, the staff that often frequent these forums are more than capable.

I'm glad to know that I will not have to find a new host. I have been through several hosts in my lifetime and I can finally rest knowing that my site is safe with Hostgator.

I've been with some of the top web hosts and I currently have a set of sites setup with inmotion hosting. While inmotion is a good host, they are not as responsive, fast, courteous and willing to accommodate you like hostgator is.

I feel confident that when the time comes to move to a VPS or Dedicated Server, I can feel comfortable trusting my transition to Hostgator.
