Default Switching from GoDaddy to Host Gator

I have an account, hosted at those other guys, and for some reason, I can't reliably get to my SQL databases (which means my blog and photo gallery).

I contacted them three times, and all three times, they said it's my ISP. Funny thing is, I did a traceroute to the databases from three different ISP's (home comcast, work T1, and a friends PC in another state) and all three time out on the same hop. Needless to say, I'm more than a little fed up with the horrible customer service, and horribly slow connections they gave me. I'm going to give Host Gator a try, as 3 of my coworkers are hosted here, and say you guys are extremely reliable.

My question is, is there an EASY way for me to transfer everything? I know that hostgator will do it, but, I'll be honest, the forms confuse me a little. Has anyone moved databases, and an entire site from Godaddy to Host Gator? Suggestions? Thank you!

Give HG a call. They will walk you through all the steps on how to fill out the form.

Yes, HG will move everything for you, but it's a good idea for you to backup your DBs first.

Thanks Chimpie, I was able to get the most important stuff backed up, and transfered with no problem.

I had never backed up/moved an SQL database before, so, it was a learning experience, but, I enjoy a challeng. Now, if I could just get my admins at work to no longer block my cpanel, I'll be happy

If you are behind a firewall, you can also access cpanel via cpanel.yourdomain.com.

If you are trying to access the databases remotely you need to add the IP to allow it. We have a tutorial to help you set that up.

Thanks for the help guys. I am ending up moving my SQL databases, since where they were sitting before, they were unreachable. When I submitted my 3rd trouble ticket to them, I gave up on their tech support all together. The only thing that will be hosted by them now is my outlook (Only because you guys don't have an outlook host that I've found ).

I learned my lesson, and did allot of research before moving everything to you guys. You have come very highly recommended by allot of people I trust.

If by an "outlook host" you mean your email, then you can certainly have your email hosted here as well.

Oops, I meant exchange. I have a hosted exchange account for my primary domain.
