Default Swamp to Semi Dedicated Questions

OK well I've had it about up to here, if you know what I mean with share hosting. I've looked around at other host to see if I could find something better and lot are just full of it or don't have what I need. Only a few had something I could see switching to but they still are lacking in something. With a Semi Dedicated plan it seems to be a good choice. I'm not to thrilled about paying $75 bucks a month. Mostly because the large amount of brand width and space will be going to waste for a while. But I have the choice of running into server load problems (either by myself or other accounts) always worrying about if the site is up or going to get suspended because of high resource use, etc. Such things I shouldn't be worrying about. So I am about half way thinking about switching to Semi Dedicated plan here.

Some simple questions.

1. I understand HG will move my site free of charge from my current account to my new Semi Dedicated server. Does this include everything (settings for add-on domains, email accounts, mysql databases, con jobs, sub domains, scripts installed threw Fantastico?

2. What are the real limits. From my last ticket I learn that for Semi Dedicated there are only 3 accounts per server. HG TOC says I can't use more then 80% total resources for more then 20secs at a time. Does this mean 80% of the resources I am allow or the total of the server? Being from share to Semi Dedicated 80% would be a lot more on Semi Dedicated then I have now.

3. Billing. How is my billing effected? I pay at the start of each month. Around the 3rd of the month. The way I understand I'm always paying one month ahead so I've already paid for October this month. (if that's incorrect please let me know). So if I upgrade will my current account be closed and I get refunded what time I have not used credited to my new account or I just keep my current account until billing comes around again? Or should I just wait until the first of the month before my next bill comes around and upgrade then?

Sorry for all the questions I want to make sure I can upgrade with as little or no downtime. I already know I'm going to have to go threw and fix all my server paths as I'm sure they will change on me. Or is that not the case?

We will move your account free of charge, this includes everything in your current account.

There are no real limits to a semi-dedicated as long as you are not crashing the box or causing slow downs for the two to three other users. If you are using too many resources on a semi-dedicated you will very likely need a dedicated or should be re-evaluating your script. (If its not caused by high-traffic)

Billing starts the day you purchase the semi-dedicated like a new plan, once you cancel your old account there will be a pro-rated refund to the day you purchased the semi-dedicated server.

Hope that helps!

I have to say that HG can make a planned move from a shared account to a Semi-dedicated account go very smoothly, but you must plan the move. Don't try and cheap out and do it in 2 hours. Plan for a little overlap and test everything once the move is done. Expect that the move will take 7 or 8 days, dispite what HG's tech/sales may tell you on the phone/email.

If it is well planned and you aren't in a big hurry, it will all go smooth. The semi-dedicated isn't cheap, but it is a good option for the money.
