Brent,
I've put in two requests for a WHM password reset. I am unable to login to WHM. I am unable to ftp into any of my websites (using name or IP). Please reset my WHM password so that I may begin my migrations. Sites are being served HTTP fine, Email is working fine. -Gary --Monica on livechat was very helpful in resetting my WHM password. Coincidentally, it's a one way traffic to restore a backup; previously generated via Cpanel (.tar.gz). You'll need to upload to your new server (public_html directory), and get HG to unzip it. However, you'll need to create the emails again. Databases and files inside public_html are good to use. I've been using this method for a couple of sites, but still waiting for HG to finish the rest.... ![]() HG speed it up .... HGSupport #AGJ-27546-702 |

WHADAFU**....seems easier to start with another host.....no matter how much I like HostGator. Can this transition be made a *bit* easier for your *LOYAL* and *LONGTIME* clients??

Brent. I must tell you I feel bitter over this issue. However I do accept your apology, I figure we all make bad decisions which look even worse with hindsight. In hindsight I should have switched hosts after 48 hours.
HG, at least your cock-up is transparent so far as forums are concerned. 99% of hosts would remove that bad publicity from their website very quickly, so credit to you for that. BTW, I'm now shutting up shop, my hosting business is bust. Unfortunately I feel obligated to continue working in the meantime to help clients recover their data, while paying refunds at the same time. ![]() On a brighter note, I should say thanks for a year or so of [up until now] great service, and thanks also for opening my eyes to the danger of hosting other peoples data while not having full or near-full control over the possible problems such as hardware failure etc. Going belly up is bad, but hell, the weight that is being lifted offa my shoulders is definately compensation to a degree. At least now I will soon have more time for my wife and two beautiful daughters, and that I can't thank you enough for! It's easy to lose sight of what life is really about. Enough drivel. This forum is titled FINAL SOLUTION. I have mine. Take my advice people, don't start a hosting business unless you got your OWN techs and OWN hardware, ie full control of your hosting destiny. What happened could happen with any host, any time. Thats scary, too scary for me Good luck to you all. |

Those of you trying to restore full backups, HG made it clear that you SHOULD NOT DO THIS because it will transfer the corrupt systems files as well, messing up the new server...

Yes Trinity thank you. I'll add anyone who does this and f***s up the Infinity server (where Supra clients seem to be now) as a result will be getting a personal "visit" from me, I don't care where you live! Your hosting customers will be the least of your problems!

If anyone is still having problems open a support ticket and then e-mail me the ticket number brent@hostgator.com so that I may babysit it for you until resolved.
