Well... all my sites are down again now too: "You don't have permission to access / on this server."

This is a total and utter FARCE.

If they are not back up in less than 1 hour, I too am outta here.

I've been hosting sites for going on 10 years and I've never been messed around like this by any host before. Or even close to it.

Is there actually anyone there to even read these messages?

I can get into WHM, but my customer's accounts are all screwed up.

One of my major accounts with a dedicated IP actually "works" from a web browser, but it is gone from WHM. Their account name shows up on another account in WHM. That account's site gives a 500 error. I am afraid to touch anything in WHM!

I have been trying to get some feedback on moving this account to another HG account that I have. Of course, support is swamped so no response yet.

my sites are all suspended and now I have this error:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Apache/1.3.33 Server at www.fvsoftware.com Port 80

why?

Well they have just come back up... and I have a response from support telling me it's fine (as if somehow it always was).

Pity I still can't upload, access Cpanel as a customer, access my main site, etc!

They ALWAYS do that crap, everytime the site was down they would NEVER respond until it was back up and then say fine.

Here is nice alternative

Autica.com

They DO NIGHTLY BACKUPS AND own their servers and do not RENT THEM LIKE HG.

Yep, I'll be cancelling, not because they crashed- that happens. The lack of respect for their customer is so obvious when they either deny a problem or send you to a message board thread which is just a bunch of people *****ing that they have the same problem... I've done a total 180 on this in the last 24 hours, before I figured I'd give them a chance to correct the issues, but the terrible customer service combined with the fact that it is OBVIOUSLY NOT FIXED... I'll go to someone that wants my business.

From Autica:

You will be able to reach us 24/7 and we will respond to technical questions in 90 minutes or less.

Gee, that'd be nice...

Be sure to check out their support forum before changing:

http://forum3.midphasetalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=103

Interesting out take from one of the recent posts there:

"4 - make sure that the staff can fix a RAID - as in slap in a new drive without destroying what is on the second drive - and to set a DAILY backup."

Is there an easy way to transfer a domain registered by HG? I can't imagine how long that request would take...

Thats why I never register with a hosting company - I always register myself with Godaddy so I have control over the domains.

Yeah, me too. I can't remember why i registered one through them. Luckily it was just one... I'm sure Brent would transfer it, but I'm sure it'd take a while... Probably not top priority considering.

I would like to know how everyone else on the other servers feels about the support they are getting as of now since most tech support we are TOLD has been directed to this server.

I am on multiple accounts across multiple servers.

Response time for support is down, but the other servers seem to be holding up OK.

Some of the stuff that I need done is automatic. The one item that I am waiting for is a dedicated IP / SSL certificate installation.

I register my own domain names via MarketFrontDomains, my own domain name company that uses the backend like GoDaddy (and I also sell Reseller programs for people that would like to run their own domain registration site. There is more information at the site about the reseller program.)

Unless your domain is "locked", you should be able to transfer the domain name to another domain registrar without any problems.

At MarketFrontDomains, we also have a Transfer Concierge that can assist your before, during or after a domain transfer.

Usually when you make DNS changes at our site, it will usually start to propegate at 5pm PST or 5am PST (whichever is next depending on your time.) However, lately, I have often had it update within 5 minutes of a change. Of course, it still has to propegate thru the Internet to all of the DNS sites.

Everything on my account appears to be working again, including email, cpanel and whm.

However, postgresql is still showing failed on the whm.

Also, when I access the file manager thru cpanel on any subaccount, the file manager is empty.

How can this be if my websites are up and I can update them thru the editting software.

Puzzling.

Has anyone heard anything else "officail" from HG? My cpanel is working, but takes about 5 minutes to load.

Yet again, I'm getting:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

On all my sites.

I'm getting totally sick and fed up of this!

If support are reading this: PLEASE FIX IT!

I had the error with not being able to see my files through file manager in cPanel or FTP. Support fixed what I believe to be a permissions issue. I'm now able to access that particular account. A ticket was just sent to fix the rest of my sub-accounts and my primary account.

The forbidden error on web access: The permissions of my html directory were incorrect. I believe they were 700, which didn't allow access to anyone other than the owner. I changed them to 755 through my FTP client, and access was restored. Of course, this is dependent on your files being accessible through FTP or the file manager.

Suggestion: don't send more than one request to reset your password. I sent a request this morning having forgotten a duplicate request from a day or so ago (time's running together). I got the second one back and was able to log in, reset my password to something better than what I gave them, and was off. About 10 minutes later, the first ticket came back. They had reset it again. Oh well, it was just one more step. At this point, I'm feeling fairly fortunate that I'm even getting in to WHM. I know that's a step above what some people seem to be getting. And, the site that was most important for me to get back working is working. Just for the record: at this point, I actually found a little humor in my password being reset twice.

All in all, a much better day than the last couple (at least for me :-) )

Those of you who's domains don't resolve, I had the same problem and you have to update the DNS Zone for the domain.

In some cases, support will have to do this for you.

Trinity - please give more information on what we can do about 'editing zones'. I've never done this, and DNS is something I've never totally understood. Of course, it's not working now, so it's not like it would be working less if I screw something up.
