Dear HostGator Staff,
I'm seeking an anwer to a problem thats been bothering me for over a week. Here is the situation with an explanation: A) The Control Panel allows you to create a Subdomain (ex: subdomain1.domain.com) which will firmly point to the /subdomain1 folder. B) Any link (ex: http://subdomain1.domain.com/abc/link.html) will remain in the URL bar of the browser as the actual link (http://subdomain1.domain.com/abc/link.html) C) If you create a "redirect" for a subdomain to another folder (ex: /anotherfolder) using the Control Panel, it will NOT keep the subdomain's address in the URL bar, but simply redirect and show the new one. Simply put, I have a subdomain : "abc.domain.com" and want to point it to "/anewfolder" instead of "/abc" like the system does, AND in addition without it having to redirect to "www.domain.com/anewfolder/file.html" but remain as "abc.domain.com/file.html" The Control Panel does not allow for me to do it, unless I do it by default to the same folder as the subdomain name (which will not work for me) I know its possible to mendle with .htaccess file, but I've tried something and it did not work out. What should I do ? Thank you for your help. WW #AJV-57628-701 |
