I'm presently looking at switching hosts (downtime issues), and I have a couple of questions about HostGator.
First, the easy one (for admins, anyway) - is there any plan to support Ruby in the near future? Rails does not matter as much, though it would be nice to have it available. Second, what is the directory structure for subdomains? My current host uses the following: / /domain1 /domain1/html (Domain root pages go here) /domain1/subdomain1 /domain1/subdomain1/html (subdomain.domain root pages go here) ... This provides a nice separation between the subdomains, and prevents the problem of being able to access subdomain.domain from domain/subdomain. Most hosts I've seen use this much simpler structure: / /domain1 (domain root pages go here) /domain1/subdomain (subdomain.domain root pages go here) Does HostGator support structuring subdomains like the first example? Thanks! |

It's /home/username/public_html/ and
/home/username/public_html/subdomain I hope that helps. -Matt |

Basically it uses cPanel which on most installations the root path is public_html and then all subdomains are inside it. So you can access subdomains by domain.com/subdomain aswell as subdomain.domain.com
