(not sure where this belongs)
I am trying to setup a subdomain to point to a domain that already exists for example: i have setup www.carringtonacademy.com which points to /home/carring/public_html and i want to have carring.imageworkshosting.com to point there as well Reason being; carringtonacademy.com is a client of our's running on our other hosting providor and i want to move them to our server with HG but i want to make sure the website is working correctly (the imageworkshisting.com/~carring wont work in this case). I tried to set this up as a parked domain in cpanel, but it wont let me. Is there any way to do this in WHM? |

if you're a reseller and have your main domain resolved, you can find your clients at yourdomain.com/~client, not their domain (not sure from your post if that's what you're doing or not). if your domain is not yet resolved, you can get there using the ip, xx.xx.xx.xx/~client.
for parked domains to work, the nameservers have to point to the new hosting server already. you won't be able to test using a parked domain or subdomain. hope that helps.

Yes we are a reseller using whm and cpanel.
That's just the thing. I can't rely on the yourdomin.com/~username bacause of the cms i am using for our clients. I need some way to so something like carring.yourdomain.com to also point there as well. |

How technical are you? If you're fairly technical, then park a fake domain on top of that site (use something like dsfd23234.com), and change the HOSTS file in your computer to point that domain to your server's IP. Then it'll act as it should for your computer.
Remember to fix your hosts file after you're done moving everything.
