Exclamation Still having this problem with BMW

http://www.nodtveidt.net/bwm.png

DNS misconfiguration. This has existed ever since Supra died and we were transferred to BMW. I'm very surprised no one has caught on to it yet.

Wink Re: Still having this problem with BMW

Could it be your spelling of BMW?

Talking Re: Still having this problem with BMW

This is not a spelling error on my part. This is what is returned when the IP is used. I knew some smartass would come back with the "spell it right" comment...

Sorry, but your post could have been a lot more clear, especially if you "knew" a smartass (me) would reply about an obvious misspelling (on somebody's part). You have not made it at all evident what you are attempting when you receive that error message. Sites on bmw seem to work fine for me. If you need more help than that, please give more explanation for somebody to help with. You are posting on a peer support forum...

what are the name servers you are using? can you be more specific on your problem?

BMW has been super reliable!

As of 22:44:48 up 114 days, 21:36 114 days ago is when we launched the server I believe.

I get that same error message if you do this:

http://70.84.85.66/~[accountname]

I get the message: :Safari can’t open the page “http://bwm.websitewelcome.com/~[user]/” because it can’t find the server “bwm.websitewelcome.com”."

I remember getting this error when I first signed up, then saw the parent post to this thread and remembered I'd never reported this.

I can reproduce this all the time.

Don't forget the / on the end of that link too!

http://70.84.85.66/~USERNAME/

That should do you well.

ok, but why does it report back if you leave the slash off that it can't find "bwm." instead of "bmw."

The trailing slash isn't needed and works without it on GMC Is it a possible configuration issue with BMW?

Unhappy Re: Still having this problem with BMW

We're now into June and this still hasn't been fixed, guys...

I thought I was being pretty clear but I guess not. If you access a site using the IP, this is the error that comes up. The trailing slash isn't supposed to be necessary, as said before, and this error comes up when it's not used. This is clearly a misconfiguration on BMW and it would be nice if it could be corrected soon please.

The question was asked before...What nameservers are you using? Did you manually set up your nameservers with your registrar? Could it possibly be bwm.xxxxx there?

Guys...how difficult is it to look through the configuration of the server? Now halfway into June and the problem STILL isn't fixed. It is not a misspelling on our part, our nameservers are the custom ones you provide (ns1.ourdomain.com etc), and the problem persists. PLEASE look into this! This problem has been present for way too long!
