starting to feel bad after 3 years with HG (update: happy again)

I recommended HG to a friend who was paying way to much for hosting and he was paying for every lilttle thing extra...So he decided to signup as a reseller and move his 100 customers to HG...

When he was signing up he entered a HG coupone (googled it in 5 secs) which offered him 10$ discount for life (he said so) on any plan...

So here's why I really really feel cheated:
1) He'll be paying $10/month less (that's almost 40% discount) then me for the same plan!! (that's $120/year!!)
2) He has php 4.4.1 and mysql 4.1.x while I'm stuck with php 4.3.10 and cra**y mysql 4.0.25...
3) and I've been with HG for more than 3 years now

So yeah I feel very disappointed...

This is incorrect, none of our coupons take of 10 dollars a month for life. Only 10 dollars off the first month, your friend is mistaken. If you are running an older version of php and mysql it is possible it will be updated soon, or may have been missed. Just email support@hostgator.com and we can check into it.

Hi Jay and thanx for the answer...well about that "$10"..I also told him that that's probably for the first month and he said for life so I didn't want to argue with him....but as I said I was a bit disappointed when I went into his WHM and saw that he has some nice extra functions and features that I don't have (ie. bandwith limit) but I was most disappointed when I saw in cPanel that he has php 4.4.1 and what's most important for me mysql 4.1.x....

If you are still on the old limits you can upgrade to the next plan and you will receive the new limits.

Update: the guys from HG support have updated mysql on my server to 4.1.x (php is still the same though 4.3.10)..they've been very helpful (as always) and quick (as always)....

There are some problems from moving to mysql 4.1 (for now only one site is acting very strange so I'm hoping HG will help me fix that)

Now Jay I've upgraded from my previous plan to Copper also because of one of those "upgrade and you'll have that feature" reasons ....It's not the problem in upgrading I just really don't need that kind of space (for now) to upgrade my account...but thanx anyway

Hi, be sure to let us know about the PHP version, too, as this should have been upgraded as well.

OK..Mr. Lyron Foster from HG Tech support has been VERY helpful and solved my problems...

AS for PHP goes Tim it's still the same 4.3.10 but after all the work Lyron has done I'm really imbaresed to ask for PHP upgrade aswell...

UPDATE: php has been updated to 4.4.1..nice work HG....
