So when I first thought about signing up with Hostgator, I went to Live Chat. I said I wanted to take cc's on my site and asked about SSL certs. I was told they were included with the reseller account. Now, I find out they will cost an extra $75 plus $2 a month just for one cert. Would've been nice to have known that up front

I apologize for the confusion.
Here is how it works: a shared SSL certificate is included and there is no additional fee to use an SSL certificate with HostGator, but the private SSL certificate does cost money. This is explained on our reseller hosting page here. Do you happen to have the chat ID of that live chat? I'd like to review it to make sure everything was communicated properly.

Of course not, why would I keep it?
Well, I had been looking at the 12.95 plan and had 2 stores so then that's why it was suggested to just go with the reseller account. I did for sure mention that I wanted to take cc's though. Oh well, live and learn. It is $75 a year right? Someone is PMing me saying a Private cert is only $10 a year? Last edited by GatorDHanna; 06-20-2009 at 07:16 PM. Reason: Merged posts. |

Installation of a certificate you do not buy from us is $10 (one time). If you buy the certificate from us, it costs $75 per year, but installation is included.
