I am currently have a Reseller account with HG. I am considering purchasing $75 and the additional $2/mo and have you guys setup a dedicated SSL for my reseller account. I have a couple of questions I want to address to make sure I understand the process and ask if there are any issues I may be missing.
(1) How quickly can this be done? (2) Will I be able to talk to someone LIVE that can help with any problems/issues to insure a smooth install? (not just a Support Person, but an Admin or knowledgeable tech to fix things quickly) (3) If I setup the SSL certificate for the main domain (www.testdomain.com) and SSL will be https://www.testdomain.com, will I then use that as a Shared SSL for 3 other domains (my own) under the same reseller account? (4) I really need that functionality to save money while sites grow. One domain I host somewhere else and they allow shared SSL with more space EG: https://server.name.com/testdomainname.com that makes it easier for setups etc. Can I setup the SSL I purchase from HG to act as Shared SSL? Will that be included in the $75 setup? Thanks for all your help. - CB |

ALso,
For the $75 plan which Comodo Plan does HG provide to resellers: (1) Instant SSL ($50 warranty) (2) Pro SSL ($2,500 warranty) (3) Premium SSL ($10,000 warranty) Your online documentation does not provide specifics. Finally, will I be provided with some documentation of the steps HG followed to install, so I can re-install in case there is a problem, or I am moved to a different server later on? Just making sure I have some backup. Thanks ! |

Hi CB,
If you go with the HG install, they are very quick and you don't need to know a thing. They'll ask what the domain is, tell you how to pay, and it's done pronto. (24 - 48 hours) If there is a problem it's HG's to fix. I think the only way you can "share" this cert is to put the other parties secure content on the domain with the SSL. (I've done this for a couple of clients with no complaints.) You can buy a cheaper cert and have HG install, (done that too) but I think they only do the final steps. The preliminary steps a quite complex and support, if any, comes from the cert seller. I'm sure after you've done this a few times it get's easy but for me it was nerve-wracking. |

"The way HG has it setup, I don't think you will be allowed to install a cert. yourself unless you have a dedicated server."
Does anyone know if this is correct? Just setup a reseller account with HG but have several accounts that have their own SSLs and I have always installed these myself. Often these accounts are moved from server to server as needed, and the SSLs are relocated with them. Very simple process - takes only a couple of minutes each. If I can't install my own SSLs on HG then that will definitely a problem that will have to be addressed. |

You can't install your own certs yourself, but HG will do it for you for $10.

slapshotw, thanks for the reply. I did not know that. I have two just today that I need to install SSLs for. I've always done these before myself, and, at $10 a pop, the $$$ would unfortunately add up very quickly.
In reality it would take only one of these per month before I would be at the price for hosting with another co. where I can install my own SSLs, as many and as often as I need, for free. Looks like the gator isn't going to work for us after all.

That being the case, then I suggest you use the 30 day refund. For me, it wasn't an issue. $10.00 per certificate isn't really that big of a deal, as I tend to get few certificates per total number of accounts. I can see your point of view, when you really spell it out, it does seem that the $10.00 fee is a bit excessive, considering that it takes all of a minute to install one. It is a fraction of the markup of the InstantSSL, so that is nice, but still. Hostgator is a good hosting company, so I'd have to weigh that against the fee issue before I'd cancel my account with them, but I do agree if your business is SSL heavy, that fee could rack up quickly. |

True. This would probably be an issue for a very trivial number of resellers here. And HG does seem to have a lot going for it. I am impressed by the active user-support community, and also the WHM/CPANEL setup resellers have access to. This combo makes managing multiple sites quite easy.
I must admit however that I was a bit dissapointed with the promised reseller templates, as it appeared to me that what was being included was essentially a 'turn-key' hosting setup, whereby a customer could navigate, choose a hosting plan, pay, and have the plan setup - all automatically - and without my intervention; like the H-sphere reseller system does. Instead it was just a simple page template with no integrated ordering functionality. Still, no biggie, and all-in-all, at least for now, HG seems to provide a decent value for the buck. |

They do include a WHMAutopilot license in the reseller package, so armed with WHMAP you can build a fully functional and automated system. You have to setup WHMAP, so its hardly turnkey, but it does work.
You need to request the WHMAP license and access to the download. |
