[RESOLVED]
[Do not Purchase SSL for your addon domain. OR Change your addon domain to Primary domain. ]Hi. I purchase new SSL (PositiveSSL) for my AddOn domain (removed). I have installed SSL certs but its not working... Hostgator operator says "You need Private IP for SSL Cert.". OK. This is absolutely normal. But this is abnormal: Private IP page says "You can not use this dedicated IP for addon domain (Thats mean my removed' s SSL not working.) but another Hostgator operator says "You can use whole domain but SSL only working primary domain." Which one? My SSL work or not work? I don't need SSL for my primary domain (removed) I need SSL for removed (AddOn). Oww... by the way you request 24 $ for IP and 10$ for setup ehe Sory my bad english... Last edited by Gencer; 05-03-2008 at 06:14 PM. |

I don't think it will work for an addon domain but could be wrong. How did you install the certificate? As in the steps you followed. I doubt you followef the steps since the mention of the dedicated ip would have been involved in the process.

My SSL domain: removed
My Primary Domain: removed My Addon Domain: removed Private IP: Not yet ![]() 1. bA. create RSA key, 2. send this RSA key to comodo, 3. comodo send to back crt and bundle certs. I have login my panel and select removed and install my certs. BUT not working ![]() Hostgator says: "SSL certs not working without Private IP (monthly 2$)" OK. I can access thi page : https://secure.hostgator.com/installssl.php This form really simple. No warning for addon or primary things. BUT this page : https://secure.hostgator.com/ip.php You can only have 1 dedicated ip address per shared account. The dedicated IP address can only be assigned to the primary domain name. You can not use the dedicated ip address on an addon domain. 2. 2nd page not for SSL (I guess) I'm just confused. Because I'm not using before SSL or like somethings. I need a information for my SSL. My SSL working or not working. Last edited by Gencer; 05-03-2008 at 06:14 PM. |

support[at]hostgator.com
They also should have needed to generate the CSR for you to give to Comodo. Did you do the certificate request here: https://secure.hostgator.com/generatecsr.php You may also need to have the domain you want to have ssl on switched to being your promary domain. I think the is a $15 charge to do that. A reseller account may be a better choice as you can then have seperate accounts for all your domains.
