spamassassin filtering of traffic going to mailman

I've enabled Spamassassin and set up a test mailing list. As best as I can tell, the messages entering mailman aren't going through Spamassassin, which means I can't have mailman hold messages via the X-Spam-Status header. I was hoping Spamassassin was setup using a milter (or something similar) so that once enabled, all mail would go through it.

Am I missing something? Is this possible? (I run mailman and Spamassassin on other servers, but I've never configured them through cpanel).
