I'd been running the default of "5" for SA. I've recently changed it to 4 to go one notch up in filtering / killing more spam. It seems I'm still getting 30 or 40 emails per day through.
I'd be interested in hearing what others are doing / using and if they have changed the default values or are getting results that work for them at the defaults. If you have changed, would you please share your changes, and results. (both good or poor) Regards- |

I put it to 4 also after a found post by a admmmin as the recc setting to use. But I have no idea really how much is getting through from before.
BU glad to see a few messages come through as marked. which means SA is attacking email even beofre they are forwarded to my other emial account. which is a good thing as I forward to an att one. less spam that makes it through SA here, that att has to filter the better. |

i would be cautious of fowarding things to an isp mail account that could be filtered as spam by the isp...i'd be concerned that the assoication with your server could lead to potential blacklisting issues.

ViragoTech, if your ISP decides that your Shared server is sending spam, it can blacklist that whole HG server without warning you.
And they're not going to take it off the blacklist simply because you call them and tell them you "pay for" the mailbox. And you sat it's an "ATT" Server. Did you mean AT&T? If so, have you read the thread about the Mail Blocking that AT&T has been doing the last week? You'd be wise to take a look at it: http://forums.hostgator.com/t-mail-blocks-t34343.html |

Don't you people read anything around here, I got 50 post about this.
Yea everyone was block by att, including me. I got my own server [the server I share with many] unblacklisted in 8hrs on my own. So buy turning on SA now, which was never on before I now send a much much lower level of spam to my att account. IF SA does it job there won't be any more problems for me. I dunno about the rest of you. Now back to the SA settings this post is about. |

we're just trying to be helpful, virago. obviously, you're free to manage your email however you choose, both with your hosting and your isp. and i sincerely do hope it all goes well for you.

3.5. Never gets a false positive. Since I'm on a dedicated box, I've also turned on most everything in Exim. I'm getting roughly 98% to 99% protection, which is as good as it gets. The small balance is caught by Apple Mail for Mac OS X Leopard, which has a decent, trainable Junk filter.
