Question Some Pre-Sale Questions

I would like to ask a few questions before I purchase the Swamp package

1,
I have read on this forum that advertisements are placed in the cpanel. is this correct? and would they be placed in the swamp package cpanel?

2,
What would be the maximum users online for a vbulletin forum on the swamp package before I start recieving messages that I am over my limit?

3,
Does any use a vbulletin forum with HostGator? if so what are your server load averages from within the hompage of the admincp? and would you provide a lin to your forum please.

Many Thanks

Yes, there would be two advertisements in your cpanel.

It depends on the setup of the bbs. Some where between 300-700 at one time.

This I can help you with! That server load is the server load and has nothing to do with your site. (other than your two users contribute to that amount).

I also can't say anything about those load numbers. 10.11 is VERY high on some servers, but just fine on others. Basically, if at 10.11 your site is too slow, then I'd assume your server is overloaded. If that is the case, ask them to fix the problem. It is likely just a bad user (a user that isn't you).

Just to be clear, the number of users you have on line has nothing to do with that load. They are not related.

Hi Serra

Thanks for your quick reply, much appreciated.

Thanks for that info.
Does it mean that they could be overselling?
They told me that they setup 80 - 90 accounts on shared hosting. Is that alot or just normal?

All hosts oversell. ALL HOSTS.... That isn't bad, that just means that they are a normal host.

It COULD mean that they have oversold the box to the point that the CPU is having trouble keeping up, but it is FAR more likely that a bad user on the system is using too much CPU. (assuming you are with a top level host, if they are a bunch of scum, then must move hosts to hostgator)

If they told you that they normally setup 80-90 account per host, then I would leave NOW. I have over 200 accounts on my server and the cpu never goes about 2.0. If their server can only handle 90 accounts, then their server is powered by a guy in a striped suit and a money organ grinder. As long as the money turns the handle, the CPU can keep up, but when he is on break, boy does it slow down.

Thumbs up Re: Some Pre-Sale Questions

i found out hostgator shared hosting is fast server and best for forum hosting. other than that, another advantage is high daily emails. which you will need for your forums.

the cpu usage is high as well. and forum with 400 users will be just fine.

when you hit the usage, simply upgrade to better plan with higher bandwidth per month. and even have easy upgrade to dedicated server in future.

dont forget to signup with coupon code: hgc25

with fast server, yes, 80-90 accounts is still fast.
i think its better if you can get some speed test on existing website hosted at hostgator. i not have vbulletion here, at other places. and i got a huge blog here. speed test report at here. http://www.hostgatorreview.org/speed-test/
which shows that my website is still much faster than cnn.com

i personally come across hoster that allocate 200-400 accounts per server.
