tbird
Fixed: PHP Run time loading was not working for two days this week. Current: PHP Socket connection falls over on second or third attempt but works on the first and sometimes the second attempt. This can result in a blank screen. There have been FTP connection problems for a long time with the occasional connection not being recognized causing a (socket?) error to be displayed, this has become less frequent of late. Last time was a few days ago. Steve |

Please could anyone click on the above link then *refresh 8 times to check a socket connection on tbird? If any problem then try this one: to compare (I am having problems with the top link only using 2 different isp's and clearing the cache) removed Last edited by gigableu; 11-17-2004 at 01:37 AM. |

Thanks,
Support were unable to find any problem either but after 2 days it is magically fixed this morning. Unfortunately it takes a very long time to be able to isolate the problem when at the outset all you know is that customer validation is failing so I have lost around 12 hours and I'm grateful. Kind regards, Steve. PHP Code:
This is related to line no. 2 "hanging" rather than timing out where the error can be caught. Last edited by gigableu; 11-17-2004 at 03:01 AM. |

I just got this message when trying the first link:
Code:
ERROR validated: I post this, because I've had trouble with a plugin I use to pull headlines from various newsfeeds sporadically. It's been working for several days, but crapped out again earlier. Interestingly, you're having trouble too (on the same server). I suspect we're having related problems, and I suspect a dns lookup issue. Frankly, support has not been much help to me either. Hope you get your problem solved. I've about given up. |

I just had an idea (not sure if it'd help, but its worth a go). In your socket connecting script get it to try the connection 3 times before crashing out.
If you are having conectivity issues then maybe that could solve the issue without causing crashes for clients. |

FYI, That socket port 80 connjection hang meaning that the timeout (5 seconds) is ignored. This appears to be caught by apache after around 20 seconds but control does not resume with the calling script, instead a blank page is displayed.
Regards testing, this also involved using different DNS domain names and I found the problem with using a different domain name that is a sub-domain within the reseller account, IOW it was not dependant on the domain name. Lastly I tried the test with another hosting Co and the response was pretty much immediate everytime it was refeshed. I am still with hostgator BTW, there was no problem with support at all, I think they are fed up trying to replicate the problem but can't. Regards, Steve. |

So I will be running parallel with different domains.http://forums.hostgator.com/images/icons/icon14.gif for a while. |
