I have had many people complain they are getting connection time out errors to the MySQL with my SMF board. I am thinking about using Host gator and wondering if anyone has encountered this issue with this hosting company.

I've got a newer forum... 4500 posts, 300 users, 100 posts / day, a bunch of people hitting refresh all the time.
Blindingly fast, zero issues. |

What about the transfer service, has anyone used the transfer from Godaddy to here?

I'm sure there would be no issues with transferring from GoDaddy to HostGator. If you want a more immediate, knowledgable answer, contact support thru LiveChat, and verify it with them.

Also, when you ask, it would be a good idea to be clear about whether you mean transfer your hosting or transfer your domain registration. From your post here, it's clear you mean hosting, but it's worth a minute to make sure support doesn't hear/read "Godaddy" and think of domain registration.

I can say for certain that you will have a 99.9% problem free service useing SMF and the mysql databases here.
I've been a free forum hoster here for over 3 years and i have yet to have one issue with any forum type or database error. And yes, transfers from godaddy or anywhere else are also 99.9% error free. |
