slow outgoing email

I'm using pop for mail on my domain. Approx yesterday morning our outgoing mail is taking 20 or more seconds to send even tiny text messages. It seems to connect to the mail server immediately but then take all of the time to actually deliver the message. I've tried two of the email accounts and used two different machines. I'm on a symmetrical 768K line that gets to web pages instantly.

Send mail via your ISP... simple solution.

We used to do that until HG told us it can cause relay problems, so use HG outgoing.

Course it won't matter when we switch to Google Apps.
