I'm encountering issues with incredible slow upload speeds (0.14 kb/s) to my website on the tiburon server. I know it is not my connection because when I attempt the same upload on my old web provider, I get speeds at greater than 14.0 kb/s. I'm also experiencing file corruption to boot. I've sent several emails now. I cannot leave a message on HostGators 24 hour tech-support line, their inbox is full. I am beginning to wonder if I've made a mistake switching to hostgator from Successfulhosting.
Switching back to Successfulhosting really isn't an option. I've posted negative reviews on about 200 different websites that review web hosting providers. Even offered up my 800 number to talk others out of using them as a provider! Needless to say they are not happy in the least. Serves them right however as they stopped taking any type of support requests for over two weeks while they updated their systems, costing me several of my clients in the process. Is there anyone else experiencing the type of FTP upload problems I am encountering? Is there anything special I need to do to FTP into a Hostgator Server. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best, James Scherber |

An update, HostGator is not the issue here. Not sure what exactly is. FTPed from within my office and it works fine.
In my home office however when I connect to my old provider, speeds are fine. When I connect to the HostGator Server, I get a very slow connnection. Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this very selective issue? |

My first guess is the routing system your home ISP is using is different from the one at the office connecting to HG.
There could be a problem with one of routers from an outside source hammering it with a DOS. It has happen to me before. If you can do a Traceroute you should be able to see where it is at. At each hop, take note of the time it takes to get to the next one. Of course this would be only for your information, usually they are aware of a problem, and are working on it. This would not be a HG problem, IMO. |
