Default Slow File Manager?

I'm shocked at how slow my file manager here is running. Is this normal? I just moved over all my files and it appears that everything in the File Manger moves like a snail... from scrolling to selecting a file to opening a file to edit. Everything pauses everytime I make a move with the mouse. Earlier today it said there was an 'unresponsive script' and asked me if I wanted to continue running it. That's not the case now, but it's still super slow. Almost like it wants to crash... how is that possible? I've tried in IE and FF and have tried in the AM hours and the PM hours.

Is this normal? Is there a way to fix it?

It's not at all normal. By the sounds of this thread, and your FTP thread, the pattern is that something on your computer isn't working as it should. Whether you have a hardware problem or virus / malware, these problems are not likely to be at the HG server you are connecting to.

To expand a little on what David said, not necessarily.

Your file manager should work at about the same rate as other Internet browsing...if it takes a minute or two for an Amazon page to display, for instance, then the problem is probably on your end.

But if you're on a PC, not a Mac, before I thought about virii, I'd try powering off the computer and everything connected to it (including the cable modem, if applicable), leaving it off long enough to go make a cup of tea, then returning and turning everything back on.

Yea it could be your own network problems. Sometimes I think it's my website having problems only to realize it's my own broadband http://photo-shack.com/img/6f2268bd1...6b5d099425.gif

as a followup... livechat support told me that File Manager isn't designed to be used to access/edit my site's files. Instead, FTP and use a program like Kompozer. So, that's why I'm going to do. My old host had a decent file manager so I never really had the need for Kompozer or similar. All is fine now and I think I'm going to like this better anyway.

If its not designed to access or edit the site files......then whats it designed for?

Something sounds wrong with the answer you got.

that's what I said. And the support person said this: "I understand."

In the end, I LOVE Kompozer so I really don't mind.
