Can someone from Hostgator let us know what this problem is exactly and when we can expect it to be resolved. Thank you.

It's fast for me.
Do a traceroute and post it here. |

Traceroute results are fine. There's just a bottleneck somewhere along the way, live help admitted it.

Having posted the last comment, it seems all is back to normal, albeit after 8 hours of problems

I had the same thing. Everything was either extremely slow or completely unresponsive all day yesterday. Anyone know what it was? Will it happen again?

No, it was definitely a hostgator problem. All my HG hosted sites were slow, as was the HG site itself, all other sites worked fine.
I take it you have trouble with Virgin then?

I use VirginMedia. I don't see any real problems with loading things from theplanet, but they are a pretty crap provider anyway.

Hello,
Had extremley slow connections when connecting via VirginMedia on the 20MB direct cable connection plan. Tested on BT etc worked perfectly. Got rid of Virgin Media, went to Utility Warehouse who provide Mistral Internet via a BT ADSL. I admit slightly slower ownlaods and uplaods but stable and I have never had a lag since conencting to the planet.com or hostgator servers. Virgin of course blamed Transatlantic crossings, then went onto blame Hostgator saying that therenetwork is saturated and to many users so there network could not cope. I was getting download from Virginmedia my X! ISP at 7.5kb a sec from a cable 20MB connection. Had Virgin customer relations trying to keep me in a 12month contract after the slow speeds going on for 5 months. If the servers were slow from the UK to the US servers with Hostgator, then why were clients such as Harpers Bazaar UK etc connecting to a hostgator server I manage download loads of fashion shows and other fashion compnaies all in the UK and no one complained about any slowness. They were shocked has fast it was and all said its great. I have onlkyhas the slowness when I was with Virgin Media and I am so glad I disonnected there phone line and internet as they cant run any of there services properly. Just read there service status everyday broadband outages etc. Thanks, LEO BAKER SYNCFILMS.COM |

They are very slow. Their DNS servers sometimes don't work and resolve things to the wrong IP. So until they update again, which happens like every hour some sites don't work.
I am on an 8Mb plan, I have never, ever gotten over 1Mb. Some days I get 800Kb and others I get about 10Kb.
