Skype Support

Hi,

I realise that Host Gator have a support number you can call if you need to, and that it also toll free, however this is not much good to those of us that don't live in the USA as international call costs can be very expensive.

As it free to make Skype to Skype calls would it be possible for Host Gator to set up a Skype account that us international customers can call should we need to.

This is a pretty cool idea! I got to be honest and say I know almost nothing about skype myself. I'm going to shoot this idea over to Tim who runs voipo that is the expert when it comes to this stuff.

Hey all,

Unless Skype does different things in various locations, I believe you can (always?) call a US toll free number for free using Skype. I have a friend residing in Norway that's able to call my US toll-free for no charge (no skypeout minutes, etc), so as far as I am aware, this works internationally. I would recommend trying to dial the HG toll-free using skype to test.

Try typing in: +18669642867 in skype and see how it goes.

This appears to work fine; just tested from here. If it doesn't work for you, I'd be curious to see where you're calling from. No skypeout time should be required.

a) Click the Call Phones tab

b) Type in: +18669642867 and click "Call"

That's pretty much all there is to it.

Hey that worked!!

I called the number from the UK and it did not charge me for the call.

This really is great news!

Maybe this information should be added to the Host Gator site somewhere to let people know, also maybe this thread could be made a sticky?

This is great news, the only problem would be that you cannot have multiple operators as a real phone could. Let's just hope you won't be talking for hours

Not so

You would be using your Skype phone to call the Host Gator free phone number which is a normal number/phone so you would be able to be passed onto multiple operators/departments
