Question sitestudio & new account

Our new account has the ip address, but it will be a little while before we can obtain the new domain which will be released from the current host. I would love to have this time to set up the site with SiteStudio before we publish the site. Is there a way to do this? I am very new, and need really clear 'how to's' Thanks!

You can log in to your cpanel before propagation.

Use the numerical ip address in your welcome e-mail in this form:

http://XX.XX.XX.XX/cpanel

A pop-up will appear asking for a user name and password (you chose them but they also appear in the welcome e-mail.)

Your site can be viewed at

http://XX.XX.XX.XX/~username

Boy this question gets asked a lot around here!

I wonder if you need the domain for SiteStudio though, seeing that it uses ftp.

So then the question is...did you ask them to set up Site Studio? I'm pretty sure it's not included in the basic packages. The last reference I found said it was $2.00 a month extra per site. (Found by searching the forum).

Here's the page it referenced (no cost mentioned there).

Now at least I know what it does...

So there you go. I use a stand alone app for web development. Actually I use about 4 different ones depending on the level of site being created and whether I will be maintaining or passing on the keys to an owner.

The 2.00 / month charge for site studio is only for resellers. It is included with the shared packages (except hatchling), but not by default. You have to request access by submitting a ticket.

You can fill out the form at www.hostgator.com/ticket/ for sitestudio, under shared addons.
