Default Sites down again on BMW - I think I have had enough.

Hostgator you are in denial of a very bad situation. For the 4th time in 2 weeks my sites are not available. I DO NOT trust hostgator to the point that I can say to a client "Yes all is ok Sir" I have been here for 4 months and it really is getting very bad now. I say again..... You should not have the 'Forum' where you post on problems [and you have many] on your own server it's ludicrous when you know you have problems like this.

What's more annoying now is that I know I have got problems owing to this and will have to explain.
Incidentally I type in a search "Hosted by hostgator" not one of the sites listed were showing. Are they all on BMW? I doubt it!

From now on I have no need of loggin in to see what the problem is I'll just add a link to on outside source and see if there is anybody out there still?

Normally that would be funny!

nm........

No sites are loading for you no matter what server they are on. This isn't a bmw issue nor would be it be something with our servers. All boxes cannot go down same time unless it's network. Have you asked your friends when it's down for you?

Dear Brent.

I have been in customer service for the last 4 years. I have also worked one on one with clients for the best part of 28 years. Sites down yesterday 4:15 PM and This morning 6:06 AM. I have no idea if this has stayed the same in that period. Yes now confirmed with clients. It's not the best situation in the world Brent.

Unable to log into Cpanel and webhost manager, mail is of course down. Aha.... it just came back again. It's like a neon light that's flickering and just about to blow. Please forgive me. I have said many good things about Hostgator

Now that I can get into Cpanel I see: (I also took a screen shot to confirm).

Failed services: at 6:27 AM - Friday 20th May 05

apache (1.3.33 (Unix))
cppop
cpsrvd
ftpd

I refreshed the page and all is well again for a few. Don't worry you'll get your ticket number shortly.
Thank you.

Yes I sent in a Ticket. I have removed the support persons name because I think it ignorant to post others names without consent.

This is what I got in response to my ticket...
--- "Please check now all the services on the server are up and resolving fine at our end".

* My reply ::::
The reseller: I know it has resolved. My point is that it keeps un-resolving, it needs to resolve because my fiends and clients need it to
'resolve' in order to see their web sites. There is only one end, your end. I use your control panel remember there is no my end. I just FTP. I know I do not know everything but I am A+ certified which means I know more than some. Furthermore for all 17 accounts to be down at the same time does
slightly suggest that at least my portion of what I am paying for was down on several occasions.

I cannot afford the time to keep checking every few minutes to see if all is well. Nothing personal <SNIP> really, this is just getting too ridiculous.

Sincerely and nothing personal.
Mark.

Problem:
An external website I have monitoring the BMW server also set me emails telling me it was down for a couple of hours...

Any idea what was going on?

Sorry no I haven't. What I do know is that another thread mentioned 'Theplanet.com' which I happen to think are invasive, they have scanned my ports on several occasions is this. [Sorry OT]. Sell space to Hostgator.

How can we control something that we do not control? It would seem that there is a chain of resellers. Hostgator is but one in a line. We are the bottom rung of this eternal ladder and suffer perhaps sometimes due to ineptness of the higher echelons above. It would seem then that our webspace is a minute corner of some vast mega computer which is resold in portions then that is partitioned and sold again and so on.

I have to ask where is the control? I certainly do not have it, nor do I get a reasonable response. I wonder if this is due to the fact that Hostgator is not getting the response they need from people either?

What ever the case may be it is very worrying.

Mark.
