Default Sitebuilder upgrade

I am thinking about switching my website over to hostgator. I like one of the templates in the Sitebuilder software that you have. I cannot upload my banner do to the version of Sitebuilder.

Parallel says that it is because you are running 4.0 rather than 4.2.3. They said this has fixed that problem.

Do you know when you are going to get this upgrade?

Thanks,
Ken

kme5150, please let me know your findings. I just signed on and used a site builder template too. There were some other upgrades with 4.2.3 that I'm interested in too.

Please provide a ticket number, I don't see any tickets received from the email address listed in your forum profile.

I will need to check in with our administrators to see if we have any immediate plans of upgrading this.

I spoke with Ford about this and we are holding off on this until all of our shared/reseller boxes are migrated to PHP5/MySQL5. The reason for this is a lot of the modules on the newer version are not compatible with PHP4.

With that said we will be looking into this within the next month or two as we are almost done with these migrations.

I don't have a case number because they never emailed me back.

It is very disappointing about the new release of sitebuilder, unfortunately I need a website sooner than this and I really like the sitebuilder software.

Thank you for looking into this for me.

Tickets numbers are sent automatically when an email/ticket is submitted to our support department.

We will announce the upgrade when it happens in the future.

GatorWesley,
Is the site builder upgrade possible now? I see in the hosting plans that the PHP5/MYSQL5 are available now ...

Yes all new accounts are on php5/mySQL5, but we would need all of our servers on our network on the same platform. The migrations are just now finishing up on the shared boxes, we still have to do all the reseller boxes.

Hi there, new to hostgator as of last night. I really like sitebuilder however it is very disappointing that it is not the latest version or has the blog, photo-gallery, ecommerce and other modules included.

One of the main reasons I signed up with hostgator was because it had this software avaialbe. Just didnt know it was so out of date.

Do you have an idea on how much longer it is going to be till it is updated and the other functions are available?

Thx

Unfortunately it is one of those things that you just have to be patient with. Wesley has posted above that it needs to wait until all the reseller boxes have been upgraded (which they are working on now) and he also stated that he will post when they have done the upgrade to sitestudio.

Its understandable to be anxious about the upgrade, but unfortunately it wont help things to keep asking about it.

BTW....welcome to the HG family

Thank you for the welcome.

No need to get panties in a bunch over my question. I haven't kept asking about it as this is my FIRST post to this forum. TYVM.

The last response to the post was almost two weeks ago on a thread that was started two months ago; and I don't know how long it takes to repair/upgrade servers. Sorry...

This was a main selling point to sign on HG I am anxious for any news.

I thought I'd see if there was anymore info since this was posted that's all.

And asking doesn't hinder things either.

Firstly - welcome to HG.

Secondly - skeetr wasn't getting his panties in a twist (and neither am I since I don't wear them), he was simply pointing out a few things and giving some friendly advice. As a newcomer to HG he probably did not expect you to have read all the various threads that this had been mentioned in and was just summing up the current situation for you.

Thirdly - asking can hinder things. If you want the HG staff to stop working on the things that have to be done first so they can tell you that they are still working on it then the end date will be delayed. Nobody said that it was you who kept asking about it. Others have in the past been a major pain by constantly asking the same question in multiple forums every 5 minutes (OK slight exageration but you get the idea).

Lastly - my sig says it all. Please don't take offence at anything I say because I really am a grumpy old git.

grrtt, Welcome to the forums.

My advice is to post your questions and just ignore the know-it-all replies from those that often take it upon themselves to speak for HG.

Someone from HG or someone a little more tolerant and friendly will eventually answer your questions.

WOW....I wasnt getting my "panties" in a bunch and I dont believe that I was trying to "speak for HG". I thought I was very polite and I was not accusing anyone of anything.

I was trying to be a little helpful and try to reiterate what has already been said.

I have never and will NEVER think that I know it all and I have never implied that I did.

I believe that you should take a dose of your own medication and be a little bit more tolerant.

Grrtt - I apologize if what I said sounded bad to you. It was not my intent.

Let's not overreact, please. IMO, skeetr's response sounded polite and as if he was trying to help. He was also referencing the fact that this thread has already included two posts from GatorWesley saying that the update would be announced when it's done.

Ok, I am looking for a host and came across HG and it looked very promising. Before I sign up for anything I always explore the forums, and I'm glad I did. About what grrtt said above, so HG doesn't actually offer/support the blog, photo-gallery or ecommerce modules? But on the "Web Hosting" page it shows them in the "Fantastica" section. And at the top of that section it states 52+ free scripts. This will be my first hosted domain so I am not up to speed on how hosting or web development work. Can someone please shed some light on this for me and how they offer the modules/scripts...but don't? Sorry in advance if my understanding is way off base.

Thanks

Fantastico is a third party addon to cPanel that provides a number of scripts that can be installed directly from cPanel. HostGator has Fantastico on all servers but does not provide support for the scripts themselves. These forums are good for help in using the scripts but ultimately the authors of the scripts should be contacted for support if you have problems using them.

Thank you for the explanation. So if there are third party scripts, for example Image Galleries (3 listed), what does grrtt mean that there is no photo-gallery modules? What's the difference?

Thanks again.

I think grrtt was talking about the Sitebuilder product.
