Ok, here's my problem.
I'm using the SiteBuilder and I'm trying to publish a page to the main page of my site. But, it says: The site cannot be published to the specified location. Cannot find site files at http://mydomain.com/. The specified site URL does not match the FTP settings. Any ideas? |

I was told by live chat that I need to e-mail sales@hostgator.com to have my FTP fixed. Just if anyone else ever has this problem, do yourself a favor and skip the live chat mess and just e-mail the SALES department for SUPPORT.

What they meant to say was, email support@, not sales@. Support@ will get you a ticket with the support department.

I asked him like 3 times to make sure I needed to email sales@ and he said yes sir! I've already sent one to sales like I was instructed to do, guess support@ is my next task.
Thanks. |

It may need to go to sales as sales seems to handle activations for extras. Either way if it ends up in the wrong department they can flag it for the other.
When using Sitebuilder etc. you can't change you main password or it will not work as it needs to be able to login via ftp.

I've received a reply back from support. Seems like it will be fixed shortly.

Just emailing support can be very tempremental, try and use the ticket system at https://support.hostgator.com/ if you can

It takes a little while to get used to, but it's not tooooo difficult and will pay off in the long run, unless this is just a tiny personal type site: You can also get some pretty decent templates without paying, or without paying much. Google "Joomla" |

I would worry that it would be possible to loose all your changes if it was deleted or had a problem since it seems none of the edits are stored actually in the websites web directory.

I use Joomla now instead which is much better & stable. Joomla takes a little getting used to and you need to have a skill level above what sitebuilder requires but it's not real crazy. If you've ever learned a bit of coding before and are fairly computer/internet literate someone should be able to figure out the basics. Its a SUPER flexible & diverse sitebuilding program. It's free (open source) you can also install it through fantastico in Cpanel (but I don't recommend that) as the files can often be old and not work properly. There are tons of crappy free templates out there but if you search h ard enough you can find some pretty nice free ones. You cna also pay someone to customize one but If you need a middle ground there are a few good template clubs. For about $50 you get 3 months access to use any of their tamplates (and can continue to use them after your membership expires). |

I wasn't aware there was any actual content saved on the web site when using SiteBuilder. When we were a reseller, I felt helpless if something happened to a user that was using SiteBuilder if something happened to the server it references to display the pages.
![]() EDIT: OK it is actually SiteStudio they were using.
