Default simple question

Hello all,

How can I point multiple domains to the same directory?

Thanks.

Easily, by just using the "addon domain" of the cPanel.

I already did that. I had example2.com pointing to the same directory that example1.com was pointing to. then I got the message "example2.com was successfully parked on top of example1(subdomain).maindomain.com" then domain1.com dissapeared from my domain list and when I tried to access it I got 404. when I tried to readd example1 I got:

Quote:
Error from domain wrapper: Domain already exists, it was not added.: example1.maindomain.com

Error from park wrapper: example1.com is already configured.

Sorry, the subdomain example1 cannot be removed because it is linked to the addon domain example2.com. You must first remove the addon domain.

example1.com could not be setup. The subdomain example1.maindomain.com was not setup either.

Because you are having trouble doing this, and because parking may not be working properly for you, you can request HG set this up for you and ask them for directions on how to do so in the future. This is, unless you haven't gotten it working by the time you are reading this.

From what i understood serial groover wanted to point to a specific directory. This is why i suggested to "addon" his domain.

If you "park" a domain you gain access to all directories from the root of the first one.

Another way to non dedicated users would be to ask Hostgator to add a CNAME to the DNS Zone of domain2.com:

Domain
domain2.com.

TLL
14000

Record Type
CNAME

subdomain.domain1.com.

subdomain.domain1.com would be what users would see when they type domain2.com. The address bar would still be domain2.com on top.

domain2.com would be an addon domain in this situation in the accout of domain1.com

Since you want to show a directory of your domain1.com, I would create a subdomain for the folder you want to show so it can easily be added to the DNS Zone.

I hope it is not to complicated

Best Regards,
