Default Simple hosting (baby) or reseller account?

I want to develop several sites (with different domains) for myself and I am not interesting in reselling accounts.
The sites will start small and build up in time traffic and size. Scripts are mainly forum scripts.

1. Can I use an Baby hosting account with unlimited domains to host several personal sites with different domains or do I need a reseller?

2. Is there a difference in resources allocation between simple hosting and reseller (server load ... not space and bandwidth ) ?

I most probably buy one account with you but dont want to spend my money on to much upfront for no use.
The sites I will put there will start from scratch and only one has some trafic but very low.

3. And if i get lucky and get sudden huge traffic how fast can I upgrade to a new account that support this traffic (probably dedicated) ?
Can this be made as a deal as if traffic/load reach some level I get billed and upgraded automatic to a better account?
I do want my site to be up and running even if traffic spikes.

Many thanks

1, sure u can!!

2, yes, there is.On baby all your sites are limited to the resources of 1 user, while on reseller when you create an Cpanel account to each domain. every site has the limit of 1 user.

3. from shared to reseller it is pretty easy to do & doesn't take too much time. You can also upgrade to larger reseller account pretty easily, but that will be useless, as the problem should be with resource use & not the # of accounts &/or space/bandwidth.

moving to dedicated might take up to 48hrs, tho there are records of dedicated being ready in less than one hour + the time of the DNS to propagate.

PS: please do keep in mind that this is a peer support forum, and the answers that we give are not "official answers", unless they come from users that have the GATOR suffix in their usernames

Sometimes we can get you set up pretty quick with a dedi. It just depends how many orders are ahead of you, special set ups instructions, if you need to verify etc. The security department usually lets us know if we need to put a rush on an order for issues like resource/traffic spikes.

I have a similar question..

I have a hatchling account and was wondering if I can host multiple websites which will be for one user which is myself?

Is this possible or do I have to purchase several accounts one for each domain or website?

Thanks

If you want to host multiple domains, you will need at least a baby plan.

That will cost you just 1$ extra per month(on monthly plan?) . Enjoy unlimited domains

With the Baby plan.. Using add-on domains.. How hard would it be to transfer everything over to a reseller account in the future?

Thanks

You would need to split them up manually. If they have databases that would make it a little more complex.

We can do it for you but admin time would apply to split those up.

I need to be sure I understand "unlimited domains" that the baby plan has. Are we talking about totally different domains or are we talking about subdomains. For instance:

I want to set up two purchased domains. I have already pointed them to my "baby" Hostgator plan. Can I put both myname.com and myname.info on the baby plan? I want to set up both of these as a WordPress blog.

If so, where do I find instructions on how to do this?

Thanks

In cPanel go to 'Add-On' domains.

And then add the domain like so..

Thanks Ixape,

Your directions sure were right on target. I had no problems setting up my second blog.

Now I would sure like to know how you made those screen shots. Is that a special program or is there some function I can use right from my keyboard?

I would love to be able to do that at times so I can help some of my people.

I just joined this forum, but I can see already that I landed amongst a group of people who I can learn a bunch from.

Glad I could help

Pressing some key such as 'PrtSc' or something else short for 'Print Screen' will capture what is ever on your screen and put it on your clipboard as a image.

Then open up something such as paint and hit paste and it will paste the screen shot in. Then you can crop or do what ever.

If you need an ssl installed on more than one domain, then reseller is your best package.

Yes it's much easier with Se7en's snipping tool it's much faster than printscreen or whatever, and it has a lots of built in tools. I just hit Win button and type "sn" in the search menu it always finds the program in a few milliseconds.
