You can do this on a Dedicated Server, but there's really not enough demand for us to do this. I've heard a lot about WHMSonic, like their Shoutcast and IRC management panels, they're really nice.

My dedicated box runs Darwin Streaming Server, which streams content in Apple's QuickTime format. It's not a major drain on resources, by the way. I still run all the rest of my sites with great performance.

We have been using shoutcast streaming for our clients with the WHMSonic 1.8c version and it is working great. Again, we are on a dedicated server. We have many radio station created and a few resellers.
The only downside to using WHMSonic is that you create a radio station with 'x' amount of bandwidth but if you created a shoutcast radio station with cPanel access, bandwidth used for the website/account will not be the same allocated to the radio. So you need to control bandwidth 'x' for the radio and bandwidth 'y' for the website/account. This can be tricky when a user is thinking that he's not using any bandwidth by looking into the 'Monthly Bandwidth Transfer' in the left menu of cPanel where he should look in the WHMSonic Admin panel under ' Total Bandwidth Used' for the radio data transfer used. Else that issue for bandwidth counting, everything works good on our side. Regards, |
