Hi,
I have been disagreeing with my current host about spam 'blacklists'. I am on a shared server which has been blacklisted after spamming activity, my ISP filters based on lists - and consequently mail forwarded to me from my domain goes nowhere. I'm not an expert, but research and advice tell me that it's not easy to get on these lists, and one list pays special attention to spammers whose hosts are 'spam friendly'. My host's response has been along the lines that there's nothing they can do and I should change ISP or forward my mail elsewhere. My response is that I like having spam filters, and I don't see why I'm paying for use of a blacklisted server. Can you tell me what the response would be if I were hosting with you? Have you had to deal with your servers being blacklisted? Thanks, Lynne |

The short answer: Your host is incorrect. They can contact the company and get themselves delisted. Either they don't know how to go about doing this, or they do know how and just aren't concerned with it.
This is an issue that creeps up from time to time. Recently we were listed in the spamcop database as being a source of spam, but we were able to get ourselves removed. It took about a day and a half. See this thread: http://forum.hostgator.com/viewtopic...hlight=spamcop |

I was having the same issue with the last two companies that were handling my domain name. The main reason for the problem is that you are forwarding your email to your ISP. Why not just use the pop email account that is included with your shared hosting account? That's what I'm doing with HostGator now and it works great.
