Default shared server doomed?

This is second time in a week, last time mysql was down, this time, apache, bind, cppop, cpsrvd and ftpd have all failed with mysql coming and going, have been online with online support for what seems hours with no progress so far.

netmoniter is great but for things like this it's useless as the site is running (error message) so to them the site is up, even thou all that is showing is: Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) ...

You might get farther through calling HG if you mean live support taht probably won't do much. Your best bet is email or phone.

I gave up with online support, waiting for about 40 minutes with the last responce "checking, please wait" (or something similar).
email can take just as long and I'm on the other side of the world, phoning US isn't cheap and free phone doesn't cover outside USA

My advice is to create a support ticket and if that doesn't resolve your issues as you would like email Brent.

To be honest when I have created support tickets they have normally been resolved without issues.

I've tried twice, but all they say is your site is running normally now. I already know that. My problem is its a sure fire bet that within the next day or so it will be down again! I need some reassurance someone is actually going to do something more than 'resrart services' every day. When my site is down so much people won't come back

I think we need flashing red text somewhere on the forum, that just pops up at you ....

If you have an urgent problem, e-mail support ...
Do not use live chat, I repeat DO NOT USE LIVE CHAT!!!

I can't speak for every person outside of USA but for me using livechat is the only way I know I will get an instant reply (no matter how unhelpful sometimes).
At least with live chat they can restart the service which fixes the problem, seems though the fault has been HG adding patches to things as there were no problems before this.

I live half a world away, maybe 14-18 hours ahead, if I email support, I have no way of knowing if it would be sitting there until their morning, maybe 8 hours as seems most problems happen around my morning, which am guessing is their night. UK is easy just swap am/pm around but USA is a pain as you have to look state then the time zone for that state ...

I wonder if they would except a collect call

I have emailed them at various times of the day and night. I have always gotten a response within one hour. Most times I hear back within minutes. And once you have received the first response from them, they are quick to reply to any other question you have on that ticket.

I live in the US and have never used phone support.

I get a e-mail response, but it simply keeps telling me to contact them when the site goes down with the MYSQL thing, and they'll restart. I think they should look into stopping it happening. If it was once a month I'd think okay, but we're looking at two, three, times a week at least! My sites been up for two nights now and I'm thinking I'm lucky
