Question Is a shared hosting package right for my needs?

Okay, I'm looking into using a webhost for a few things, first to move over my current websites: those who don't care about the details, and just want, can skip to the TLDR bit at the bottom.

3 subdomains with small forums (50ish users, record for online at once is 15)
A few basic websites, html, images, maybe a bit of php, nothing too fancy, again, I'm not expecting much traffic on this.

This part is the bit I'm not sure about, I'm a musician (in the UK) and I often work with people all round the world (thanks to this wonderful tinternet, no that's not a typo :P)
So, for the past year, I've been sharing the files with the people I'm working with manually (via MSN/AIM), but this can be annoying as timezones and such get in the way.

So I figured, with the space available (and yeah I know some of it is overselling) I might be able to get away with uploading it to webserver, and then it can be downloaded as needed, when needed, and uploaded when done, freeing up timezones and such.

What I'll be dealing with mostly is large files containing FLAC audio going back and forth, this is almost all original work. Either published under creative commons, I have permission from the copyright owner, or I am the copyright owner.
Anyway
TLDR
Will a shared account be enough for me with 2-3 small websites (subdomains) and forums (no more than 20-30 users at once over all of them), and then a small number of people downloading and uploading fairly large files (100meg up to a gig for the finished track ready for mastering), I'd estimate on a BUSY month, maybe 30-50 gigs.
In terms of CPU and memory usage? - as they seem to be the real limiting factor now.
Also, is this allowed by the TOS? As I read it, so long as the files are used as part of a website, say linked on the forum for download, with only the registered members with the proper permissions to download (though I suppose anyone who got the direct link could). This isn't backup storage, as the files will be downloaded until everyone who needs the file has it then deleted, or replaced.

Preemptive thanks for reading this and any replies.

Hostgator should not have problems if you have the copyright of the files, 20-30 users in a forum is just fine, as long as you don't have a lot of pluggins to shoot up the mysql connection limits.

for best and official answers you can do a live chat, or drop a email to sales @ hostgator.com and iam sure they'll take care of you promptly.

Yeah, I figured the forums would be fine, I just was not sure if the large file transfers would eat CPU and ram and get me kicked.

All the copyright is covered too, most of the time, I'm the owner (as in it is my work), or I am helping another musician with one of their works (thus have permission), or the work is copyright free, or creative commons.

I suppose the only issue may lie in work that contains samples yet to be cleared by their owners, but legally that is not a problem as you're not required to have permission in production, only when you seek to publish the work with the sample.
Well by UK law it is fine with that, and I think the US has pretty much the same fair use thing.

Thanks for the link, but that article isn't really up to date anymore, given it's focusing on bandwidth and storage space, both of which may as well be "As much as you can use without stealing all the CPU and memory on the server".

Though that said, good link with many cool articles for me to read, thanks.

Posted mostly because it's hostgator hosted and the author mentions Brent more than once on his site.

That seems like a very good plan. GO with it.
