Default Setting up my VPS domain

OK can I safley assume the DNS config for the VPS will be different then the shared DNS I used now?

Id like to get started on the VPS setup unless it will throw the system for a loop when I have the same domain registered to two accounts.

Still downloading files for the move but would like to get the account paid for n started. That way we can start the upload soon as we are ready.

I know support owuld help move files, but its a partial move, keeping the shared for some smaller stuff and been to much of a bother as of late.
We can handle the move.

Hello,

Really the only difference is the configuration of private nameservers at your registrar. Information on specifics on how to do this should have been included in your VPS Welcome E-Mail. Basically it just comes down to registering the records for NS1 and NS2 at the registrar, then making these records match on the server. http://intodns.com is a tool that will allow you to check your work after the changes have been made, or you could always open a ticket to have our Administrators do the same.

My recommendation as far as how to split the domains would be to configure the private nameservers to point to your VPS, then configure any domains going to the VPS to use those nameservers rather than the shared nameservers. This should allow the accounts in whole to exist in both places, but have the sites wrote to the correct location.

If you have any further questions please feel free to let us know.

Have a wonderful afternoon.

Hmmm well is that why the new VPS says the domain is

vir.viragotechxxxxx.com

and not

viragotechxxxxx.com

The system couldn't take 2 accounts with the same domain???

your primary vps server needs a name, hence the xxx.domainname.com. Now make a new domain with the domainname.com (viragotechxxxx.com) and you're good to go.
