I started my HostGator Reseller account yesterday. I could not log in to do anything. So I contacted live support and the conversation went like this:
Please wait for a HostGator operator to respond. Welcome to HostGator Live Chat! You are now chatting with 'Shaun' Shaun: Welcome to HostGator Live Chat, how may I assist you? Me: I started my reseller account yesterday. I received the email stating I can access my web host manager at http://xx.xx.xxx.xx/cpanel. It still does not work. Does it take more time? Shaun: its whm instead of cpanel at the end Shaun: Is there anything else I can help you with? Me: the whm does not work either. It won't accept my username and password. Shaun: One moment please. Shaun: It looks like your username and password are to close to each other. Me: What do I do to correct this? Shaun: Email sales@hostgator.com with the following information Shaun: 1. Id like to reset the password on my account. Shaun: 2. Your primary domain name Shaun: 3. The password you would like Shaun: 4. the last four digits of your credit card or most recent Paypal Transaction ID Shaun: 5. Type the words "Password Reset Request" in the subject line Me: Thank you I messed up by having a password that could be considered too close to my username. But why can't you flag that as the account is being created and give the customer the chance to correct. As it is, I'm just sitting here not being able to use HostGator at all. I put in a support ticket 3 hours ago and still can't log-in. |

Its a weakness of cPanel, not Hostgator. You do really need to use stronger password though.
