Default Server Names

I've been looking around the cpanel and I haven't been able to find out the server name. All I know is the address where it's hosted on (ns239.hostgator.com/ns240.hostgator.com) but I doubt they are equivalent to "gator239" and "gator240". There should at least be somewhere where one can find out the name of the server. Note: I did accidentally stumble across it while creating a subdomain. It just said "gator120 created subdomain...." but could it be more out in the open next time?

Default Re: Server Names

if you are in linux you could do:

Quote:
host ns239.hostgator.com
ns239.hostgator.com has address 70.87.208.34
and then:

Quote:
host 70.87.208.34
34.208.87.70.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer gator120.hostgator.com.

Let's say that your domain in HostGator in MyDomain.com

go to command prompt and type:
nslookup MyDomain.com

You will get an IP address, let's say 70.87.208.34

now in the command prompt type:
nslookup 70.87.208.34

You will get the server you are in:
gator120.hostgator.com
