Server loads?

I'm considering signing up for a reseller package. I was wondering , what kids of server loads do you average? My current host consistently has very high loads and intermittent connections dropped. I just want to be sure I'm not going to see server loads over more than about 1.5 or so during normal hours (daylight, evening times). Thanks.

1.5 would be a good number for me to estimate. We d not overload or oversell on any of our servers.

While we're on this topic, is it possible to get a chart of server loads?

When I first signed up the load on the server I'm on was fairly low (less than 1.0). But, it's climbed since. Now, every time I've checked it's been between 2.0 and 3.0. Highest I've seen was 8 point something. Right now it's 2.38, and that's on a Sunday afternoon.

That said, I still find the servers to be more responsive than most of my past hosts which didn't show the server loads.

I'm going to add to this. I had trouble getting on to one of my sites yesterday. The server load was 14 at the low point and 19 at the high.

Yes that server faced a spam mail attack if I remember right during the late afternoon which increased load as it went through the mail that got through before we stopped it.
