Server Load

My site seemed slow to load, so I checked in my CP and under server status the server load was flashing red and it said 10.62 (1 cpu) What does this mean? (Sorry, I'm not technically minded) And is it something I need to report, or do something about?

It just means the server is taking a bit of a load. When you're taking that much with the CPU on a webserver normally the memory is taking a major hit. You just have to wait a bit for things to slow down. If it gets to be more then 50% then there's something HostGator should deffinately know about.

Thanks. It seems to stay in the red rather a lot. Can someone tell me if that's normal? I'm on a semi-dedi.

No it's not normal, contact support and ask them to take a look.

Glad to hear Dawn, be sure to email support whenever anything like that happens. Our email guys who can handle that are on tickets 24/7 but they do not monitor the forums.
