Default separate email server and forms

Hey all,

I'm currently re-designing a website for an organization. I am running the new version of the website on a VPS. The old site is hosted at some other hosting company (eww). Until we are 100% ready to switch over, I have been using the IP address for testing and viewing purposes.

I am trying to install some php scripts that require mail to be sent (mostly to me as notifications). We are planning on keeping our mail server on-site at the organization, and hosting the website portion on the VPS.

Maybe I'm confused on how it works, but am I able to use the VPS to send out mail using html forms and php forms? Would I have to set up an email account on the existing on-site mail server and then put that outgoing mail server in the settings of the script? Am I totally off base here?

Thanks,
Alex

I wasn't able to locate which VPS you have, but this should be relatively easy to complete. You'd want to either create a new cPanel for the domain, or add it to an already existing cPanel if you haven't already. You would then remove the domain from the /etc/localdomains file and place it into the /etc/remotedomains file. This will allow the server to email out to your remote email server instead of having it get delivered locally. If you need any help getting at those local/remotedomain files feel free to PM me on the forums with your VPS information and the domain and I'll help you out!
