If you haven't heard of SEO Hosting before, it's an offshoot of HostGator. It's essentially a web hosting service that provides WHM and lets you create accounts on totally diferent IP's with different C class blocks.
The old design is a little dated, and we've been re working with a local Houston designer to give it a face lift. We specialize in web hosting, not design though. Please give your thoughts and suggestions on the new design, what can be improved? We want any and all feedback that you're willing to throw at us. You can view the designs here: Current Site / New Site (being developed)

And the misspellings. Should be "separate" rather than "seperate".

New one I'd say...but still needs a lot of work. It's definitely a bit plain right now.
If you guys need anymore help let me know....I live down the road and have plenty of good designers.

Definitely the new one! And I second the motion concerning spell check. I've even come across misspellings on error pages (occured instead of occurred).

I like the old one. It's much clearer what you're selling. The subheads '5 C Class IPs' etc really stick out, so a quick scan through the page let's me know what you're all about. The new one looks similar to dozens of other sites on the web, and other than your phone number and price, nothing really sticks out. And even the price, though big, doesn't immediately catch my eye because it's white and green like everything else.

New one.
You don't mention SSL. You say its easy to move up a plan. Can you drop down just as easy too? Is it the same great HG support team?

Not sure I agree with "completely" rld (no offense..please). The old one w/ the cute girl showing a little cleavage seems slightly hokey. The prices on the old one jump out at you all at once, but the new one has the lowest price displayed IN YOUR FACE which I think is an attention grabber. That being said...after working with the HG templates for the last few days...I DO understand how the new site kinda resembles a template I might have seen....then again, so does the old one. It's quite possible the pretty girl makes it seem somewhat dated.
Just another opinion from the peanut gallery. |

It was very interesting to read the different opinions by people that are web site designers. (Hope I don't offend anyone with my opinions here.)
I had the people in my office take a look at both sites (None of which do any kind of web design) and all picked the original site. Now they did say they drop the gal with the cleavage, she is over powering the page and made the page look un- professional. Guess my point here is that sometimes people that are in the business of web design miss the whole point when building e-commerce pages. They get caught up in designing sites that use all the latest flashy things and most people that will be viewing your site could care less. What they are looking for is information about what you have to offer in an easy format that, they can get from point A to Point B on your web site. Best rule of thumb I learned while back in my college days was K.I.S.S. When I started working on my companies web sites, the company already had some sites in place (so we already had a customer base to work from) what I have been doing is asking these customers for their opinion on what they like and what they don't. (Example of one of the things I picked up from our customer base was to stay away with using a lot of green and reds.) Seems that we have quite a few of our better customers that we ship over seas to are color blind and reds, greens made the pages hard to or almost impossible for them to read. (One of our sites is a Jeep Parts site so using green was first thought.) *Note on color blindness about 1 in 8 men have some degree of color blindness and green and red being the most common. Bob |

I like the look of the new design overall, but I think the home page of the old design is more informational. I like having details of 3 sample packages right there out front.
I don't like the green boxes in the new design. They seem to be acting as a bar graph for SEO advantage between SEO hosting and other hosting but there is no actual information you can compare. And something about the angles on the boxes bugs me. Of course the new home page is not finished so it may work once the real text is in place. Me, I'd consider dropping the boxes and figure out an attractive way to include the 3 sample packages in that space. I also don't like the heading "Web Hosting Design for SEO." It sounds like the company designs web hosting for seo. But I thought that the company provides web hosting that has been designed for optimum seo: "Web Hosting Designed for SEO." But then I don't understand Class C IPs so maybe I just don't get it. |

So the changes seem to be complete? Looking good IMHO.
The lowest tier is like a 5 site reseller account, each with static IP. I guess the $2/month is built in. You do not seem to promote SSL options. Otherwise it looks interesting.

on topic :
the new website is nice while the old one has retro-ish design, off topic : well I'm here to save someone's host gator web site form hacking (well you can check inside Valtico's website sub FTP accounts and you'll find my account,i can't tell my account for security reasons ,host gator staff please PM me) Luckily they only hacked the index page,I'm not sure but i think the damages are more severe inside Valtico's website server(host gator's user) adult merchant : well its has spelling errors, and its a good start : ) keep up the good work. |
