Is Hostgator thinking of signing up for this to combat spam ?
http://spf.pobox.com I notice quite a few big names are on the list already. http://www.kitterman.com/spf/txt.html What does anyone else think ? Regards Keltic |

I've set that up in the Zone Templates in WHM so that'll be on all my clients.

I thought your host had to sign up/set up certain things first to enable you to do this.
Clear as mud that statement......but you probably know what I mean Regards keltic |

you need to edit the DNS zone and add:
yourdomainname.com. TXT v=spf1 a mx or you can edit the standard zone template: %domain%. IN TXT v=spf1 a mx you need to be careful though when messing with DNS! or you could get unpredictable results. ![]() - Paul |

It has been a while since this issue as been visited, but with the current flood of email spam it may be time to make it more accessible. Because HostGator is a large hosting player, it might be able to take a lead position in making the Sender Policy Framework easier / more available to their clients (or even do something from the hosting side).
Why should HostGator bother? What's in it for them? Press and exposure, in other words free advertising through market buzz will come to anyone who is able to do almost anything to move the Internet toward a solution to the spam problem. I'm not a techie, but it looks like the SPF could work -- but only if it is widely adapted. In the meantime, as a reseller, I need more/better instruction about how to implement SPF on my sites.
