I like to do custom server options that would not otherwise be possible in a shared environment. I know HG sometimes has a semidedicated solution available, but that does not give root access to install custom software. I am in a unique position where I host for friends and for my own personal enjoyment, so I will never require the resources of a dedicated server, but would like to have the options that a dedicated server affords. Software like Virtuozzo from SWSoft allows this to be accomplished. It may, however, be cost prohibitive since it would require that cpanel be provisioned inside of each virtual server with a separate license fee.

I would love to see HostGator go into the VPS market. Virtuozzo is definitely worth a look (maybe two).
