safe_mode and blocked ports!

I'm a webmaster of a gaming clan and have a couple of questions.

1. safe_mode, if this is enabled it'll block some functions we need, or restrict.
2. Blocked outgoing ports, we use query scripts for both gameserves and ventrilo and we need those scripts be able to query without having blocked ports (since the traffic query FROM the site, ie. outgoing).

On Shared servers at least, Safe Mode is off by default.

But definitely read the Terms Of Service, regarding gameservers and ventrilo. I believe those are both disallowed.
