Default running an ASP-based site at HG?

I am the temporary admin for an ASP-based site that we will convert to a PHP-based system eventually.
The site includes some hand-coded admin pages which we use to update the front-page, etc.

The site is currently hosted on a Windows server at a lousy web host. I'd like to give HG a try, as I am very happy with HG for my personal website.

Any idea if an ASP-based site would run on HG's Linux servers with Chilisoft-ASP? (I think the pages are wired to an Access DB, but I am not clear on that yet.)
Thanks for any advice.

From a technical standpoint, I have a feeling you'd be far better off staying where you are than trying to move the site. Even if the hosting company is bad. The amount of effort it would take to covert would be far too much, when you could be using that energy converting the site.

Moving to another windows based host is really your best option, if you HAVE to move. Then setup your php site at HG and start the conversion.

Well you can start working converting the site and keep it up at the same time with the other host. Once the site is finished and working successfully you should then change your Hosting Provider to HS.

They often fail to meet commitments like that. That is their track record, so don't expect anything to be different with Windows hosting.

You guys are probably right.

I usually take people at the word until they prove otherwise.

Helm is free, so likely that is what they would use.

"Join Serra Kissing Ass 2 years of ass kissing going strong!"

Serra,
Now thats funny. You got a good sense of humor for attaching it to your signuature.

You have to admit you do sound like a Hostagator dedicated hosting salesman sometimes .... well ok ... alot of times.

Anytime someone calls me names, I put it in my signature. I had a really good one a few months ago when someone said something really nasty about me. It was so nasty, it was almost poetic.

Well, I'm a strong believer in dedicated hosting! I'm a fan of Hostgator, but I have no reason to kiss anyone's ass. I didn't drink the cool-aid. I'll gladly and do often point out HG's shortcomings along with their strengths.

Humor and "casual" comments do not translate well, and they do not seem so humorus or casual when written down instead of being spoken, so I can understand why you might see TheMules comments as "childish." However, I'm sure TheMule was appreciating Serra's self-depricating humor in Serra's sig line.

I not unhappy at all. I was pretty pissed off at Hostgator a few days back but not any more.

I am not exactly sure which post you are commenting on, but if was about my post to Serra I am pretty sure I was giving him a compliment.

If you are commenting on me criticizing people who are making fun of people and calling them names for posting their dissatisfaction with Hostgator. That's not going to change .... I believe that it is childesh and mean to give people a hard time who are already having a bad day. It doesn't help and most likely makes matters worse. And the fact that some of the members here actually start threads to poke fun at people ... well I find that behavior reprehensible. I hate bullies, always have. I will do what I can in aide of their victims

What make yo think that?

I don't want to sue anyone ... Even if I did I have no time. I got a duel to prepare for.

This isn't some ploy to get out of showing up on Saturday is it?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the comments toward the top of this thread. Given what's pointed out, it seems that my time would be better invested setting up the new PHP-based site, rather than trying to move the ASP-site right now. I think I'd rather wait for HG to get Windows servers going than take risk on different host. I myself am not in a position to criticize HG for falling behind on a production schedule...

Someone already knows a date? I think I can't wait any longer for HG to launch windows hosting. I’d rather stick with HG because I find their service good, but I have no choice right know. I hoped they could tell me a date more precisely. I asked the support a few times by now and every time they say the same: ‘Any week now.’

Perhaps someone here knows more about a date or has any other information about HG’s Windows hosting?

Hmmm... one of the techs posted yesterday that PHPSuExec was on all HG machines... are you saying it isn't on yours?
